Shanghai (ZXZC)- The spy shot of Foxconn's first all-electric model was recently exposed by a local media. The photo is only about the clay model of the C-segment SUV, while displays many elements applicable to the styling of a mass-produced model. The vehicle is expected for sale in 2023.

According to the spy photo, the full-electric model has a sporty appearance thanks to the closed-off grille, the headlight cluster that runs across the vehicle's width and two protruding lines on the bonnet. The SUV is likely to carry concealed door handles. The futuristic wheels would cater to tech-savvy consumers. At the front, the lettering “FOXTRON” seems to be the future brand name of Foxconn's vehicles.

The yet-to-be-launched model will ride on Foxconn's MIH electric car platform. As a BEV-focused modular platform, the MIH is designed to include all key hardware and software components, and can be adapted for car and SUV body styles. Based on the platform, vehicles can be tailor-made in many details like the size of battery pack and the wheelbase, setting the platform apart from those that are difficult to make changes to.

Foxconn declared the MIH platform the linchpin of its electromobility offensive in October 2020. Currently, the MIH Alliance has embraced many partners such as Amazon Web Services, Arm, CATL, DANA, Eaton, Microsoft, Qualcomm, MediaTek, STMicroelectronics, and others. The open-source platform will welcome more automakers to divvy up research and develop costs and generate large market scale.
