Xpeng Motors launches P7’s new flagship version at Auto Guangzhou 2020

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Xpeng Motors launched the new flagship version “Pengyi” of its P7 electric coupe at the Auto Guangzhou 2020 kicking off on Nov. 20. Its guiding prices range from 366,900 yuan ($55,803) to 409,900 yuan ($62,343) after subsidy.

According to the startup, the P7 Pengyi comes with two variants—the four-wheel-drive high-performance and the rear-wheel-drive super-long-range. Delivery will start in March next year.

In Chinese, “Pengyi” means wings of roc. The new model is given the name perhaps due to its scissors front doors that are similar to a pair of wings when they are lifted. Users can open the doors using key, bluetooth/NFC-enabled digital key, Apps on smart phone, car-mounted display, voice assistant and inside door handles.

The degree of front door opening can be determined by users themselves. Each door carries a radar detector that can recognize obstacles, so as to prevent the doors from being hit by other objects when they are opened.

The fluorescent green body painting is also rather eye-catching. Additionally, red and grey are also available for the Xpengyi

At the motor show, Xpeng Motors said it will take a further step in the development of autonomous driving technologies. According to He Xiaopeng, CEO and chairman of Xpeng Motors, the company's next-generation self-driving software and hardware systems will be greatly upgraded to offer better capabilities in assembly of control domain, computing power and high-precision positioning, etc.

Xpeng Motors said it plans to launch the world's first mass-produced intelligent car equipped with LiDAR. The company believes, for the present, LiDAR can efficiently improve a car's high-precision recognition performance and support the application of NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) function in urban low-speed scenarios.
