10,000th Xpeng P7 leaves production line
Beijing (ZXZC)- On October 20, at the Zhaoqing plant of Xpeng Inc., the 10,000th P7 rolled off the production line, another milestone for the smart electric vehicle company. In May, 2020, the company began to produce the four-door sports sedan. It took less than 160 days for the company to achieve the milestone, the shortest time for China’s new energy vehicle startups to make such an accomplishment for a single model.
With a maximum range of 706 km (439 miles) on a single charge, the company’s second mass-produced Smart EV has a post-subsidy price range from RMB229,900 to RMB349,900.

XPeng posted new record highs in September deliveries, third-quarter deliveries as well as the P7 monthly deliveries. Last month, the automaker delivered 3,478 Smart EVs, a 31% increase from August and a 145% increase year-on-year. In the quarter ended September 30, 2020, XPeng delivered a total of 8,578 Smart EVs, including 6,210 P7s and 2,368 G3s, representing an increase of 266% year-over-year.
Last month, the deliveries of the P7 amounted to 2,573 units, the best-ever monthly delivery record. The model’s sales have achieved growth for three consecutive months since the scale delivery started at the end of June.

The Zhaoqing plant, its first own plant, occupies a parcel of land of over 600,000 square meters and has a construction area of over 227,000 square meters. With a designed annual production of 100,000 vehicles, the Zhaoqing plant houses five highly automated manufacturing processes, namely stamping, welding, painting and assembling and battery packing. In the future, the plant will make other models.
On September 28, Xpeng started the construction of its ICV intelligent manufacturing base at Guangzhou Knowledge City, its second complete vehicle production plant following the Zhaoqing plant. According to the company’s plan, the Guangzhou base will start operation from the end of 2022.
