Didi says it helps cut emission by 1.3 million tons in 2018-2019

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On April 22, DiDi released a whitepaper, comparing carbon emission levels of different businesses such as Didi Hitching, Didi Carpooling, bicycle, charging, smart transportation and so on. From 2018 to 2019, Didi platform totally reduced a carbon dioxide emission of 1.303 million tons, which is equivalent to 680000 vehicles’ annual emission.

The development of new energy vehicle, also an important area for the development of new infrastructure, contributes a lot to the realization of green transportation and low-carbon city. By the end of 2019, the total amount of Battery Electric Vehicle on Didi platform had reached 969,000, accounting for 30% of BEVs in China. And the total mileage of the platform’s BEV had reached 7.09 billion kilometers, equivalent to one-fifth of the total mileage of the BEV nationwide.

Charging facility is the link between energy and transportation, so the reasonable network and stable high-quality services are essential for the development of new energy. Xiaoju Charge, the charging subsidiary of Didi, provides infrastructure services for the development of new energy vehicles. By the end of 2019, Xiaoju Charge has covered nearly 40 cities in China, with a total of more than 20,000 quick charging piles, 9.3% of national public quick charging piles. Throughout 2019, the platform had provided more than 25 million charging services for 556,000 car owners, with an average daily charging of more than 3 million KWH, 22% more than that of public charging piles nationwide.

In addition, Xiaoju Charge also provides energy solutions for the industries, with charging platform available to new energy fleet and enterprise users, such as bus fleets, logistics vehicles, vehicles from enterprises and private cars. At present, the platform has established cooperation with Xpeng Motors, Huolala and other new energy fleets.

To some extent, Didi’s concept of ridesharing has cultivated the public habit of green travel. Thanks to the ridesharing platform, one-third of the short-distance trips by cars have been replaced by shared bicycles as the average distance of shared bikes and motorcycles is 3km. Besides, customized bus services reduce car travel intentions by 30% and so on.
