Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese automaker BYD kicked off on April 26 the presale of the Han, an all-new flagship sedan to BYD's “Dynasty” series.

The long-expected model is to be offered in BEV and DM (namely, PHEV) versions and will reportedly hit the market in June this year.

The BYD EV, equipped with BYD's latest redesigned lithium iron phosphate battery—the “blade battery”, will have a cruising range of up to 605km, and can sprint from a standstill to 100km/h in only 3.9 seconds, the company said.

According to China's MIIT, the other variants featuring NEDC-rated range of 506km and 550km will be provided as well.

Some fresh data were recently unveiled by Zhao Changjiang, BYD's auto sales general manager. Via his Sina Weibo account, he said the BYD Han EV passed the moose test at 80km/h+, and boasts a world’s leading 100km/h-0 braking distance of 32.8 meters. Besides, the battery can power a 135-km drive after just 10 minutes of charging, and can be charged from 30% to 80% of its capacity within only 25 minutes. The drag coefficient only stands at 0.233.

According to Zhao, the brake of BYD Han EV has a dynamic regeneration system capable of recovering up to 35% of the braking energy that will be used to recharge the batteries. Thus, the driving range could even surpass 700km.

Other niceties include the offering of carbon fiber sports suits and the unibody design massively using high-strength steel.
