Measuring 4,586mm long, 1,920mm wide and 1,728mm tall, and having a wheelbase spanning 2830mm, the Aion V plays in the league of compact SUV, which sits below the Aion LX, Aion's second production model.

The front of the new model features a modern avant-garde look that is inspired by the “mechnimal”, a futuristic concept containing machine and beast. The large-sized split-type headlights coupled with masculine lines accentuate dynamic aesthetics.

The “hidden” door handles adopted by the Aion LX are also seen in the Aion V. Below the car windows is a chrome-plated trim extending from the front to the D-pillar. Presenting a simple styling, the rear also features a split-type taillight cluster that is in tune with the front.

Built on GAC's GEP 2.0 BEV-focused platform, the Aion V will carry a permanent magnet synchronous motor at the front axle that is good for 135kW and 350N·m of peak torque, which is powered by a ternary-lithium battery pack. The powertrain allows for range of 400km, 500km, 530km or 600km according to the NEDC methodology used in China.

The Aion V is also equipped with GAC's ADiGO Autonomous Driving System 3.0 which enables the autonomous driving at 0-120 km/h on the country's expressways covered by HD map network if legally permitted (Aion V, photo source: GAC NE's WeChat account).
