Geely’s all-electric BEV Geometry C priced from 139,800 yuan for presale
Shanghai (ZXZC)- The Geometry C, the second mass-produced and first SUV model of Geely's BEV brand Geometry, made its debut at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Auto Show 2020 and is set to hit the market in the third quarter. The presale price starting at 139,800 yuan ($19,754) was announced at the same time.
The Geometry C underscores dynamic aesthetics, featuring several flowing body lines and the in-vogue “floating” sunroof. At the bottom of the front is a grille that changes the opening angles depending on the car's running speed, which is designed for reducing air resistance so as to increase the driving range. For that purpose, the designer also gets the “hidden” door handles installed. Thanks to those ingenious designs, the drag coefficient stands at 0.273.
At the rear, the unmistakable LED light cluster stretches across the entire tailgate, augmenting the futuristic sense for the SUV.
The interior radiates a similar minimalist aesthetics to that of the Geometry A. Besides, a vehicle occupant can find out many familiar elements if they have seen what the Gemetry A's cockpit looks like, such as the floating console-mounted display, the dashboard, the two-spoke steering wheel and the rotary gear selector.
The new SUV is fitted with an electric motor developed by Nidec, which is good for 150kW and 310 N·m. Powering the vehicle is a CATL-made lithium-ion battery pack with an energy density of 160.28Wh/kg or 183.23Wh/kg, enabling a NEDC-rated range of 400km and 550km.
Based on Geely's BEV-focused platform GE2.0, the Geometry C boasts the SEM (Smart Energy Management) system that includes the ITCS3.0 intelligent battery temperature control system and the heat pump air conditioning system, etc., which help the vehicle offer longer range.
The Geometry C will compete head-on with the startup-developed Xpeng G3, the WM EX5, and such models as the Aion V, the BYD Song EV manufactured by traditional automakers.
