Car and City: December 2021 registrations of XPeng models
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In December 2021, a total of 16,361 consumers in China purchased insurance for XPeng's new vehicles, representing a 184.7% year-on-year hike and a 9.7% month-on-month leap, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC). This was the highest-ever monthly registrations achieved by XPeng.

In terms of Dec. registrations of China's domestically-built new energy passenger vehicle (NEPV) models, XPeng still topped the other Chinese NEV startups and ranked eighth among auto brands in the world's largest auto market.
As the top-selling XPeng-branded model, the P7's monthly registrations hit new highs of 7,510 units last month, ticking up 0.4% from a month earlier. Among made-in-China NEPV models, the P7 ranked 17th by Dec. registrations, dropping four spots from the previous month.
Regarding car ownership, 6,723 and 734 P7s were registered by private and B2B users respectively in Dec. Besides, 53 units were registered for car rental service.
Guangzhou, where the startup is headquartered, was still the No.1 city in Dec. 2021 regarding the XPeng P7's registrations. The occupants of the second to fifth places were Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu, the same as that of last Nov. Beijing failed to enter the top 10 cities list in Dec., ranking 11th with 247 P7s registered.
The registrations of the XPeng G3 in Dec. fell 29% month on month to 3,770 units, 3,658 units of which were the G3is. In term of car ownership, 3,242 and 244 G3s were registered by private and B2B users respectively.
With regard to Dec. registrations of the G3, Guangzhou and Shanghai still occupied the top 2 spots among Chinese cities. The winners of both the third and fourth spots—Foshan and Zhaoqing—were from Guangdong province. The other two ultra-modern metropolitans—Shenzhen and Beijing—ranked seventh and tenth respectively.
There were 5,080 P5s registered in Dec. 2021, representing a robust year-over-year surge of 138.4% and resulting in 7,933 units in P5’s cumulative insurance volume.
XPeng's home base city Guangzhou still topped the other cities by the Dec. P5 registrations. Apart from Guangzhou, Shanghai also had over 500 P5s registered last month.
