Shanghai (ZXZC)- For the month of June 2019, China's new energy PV (NEPV) wholesale volume reached 133,528 units, surging over 90% compared with the performance a year ago, according to the data released by the China Passenger Car Association (PVs mentioned here merely refer to China's locally-produced cars, SUVs and MPVs).

For the first half of the year, there were a total of 575,061 NEPVs sold across China, a year-on-year increase of 65%.

Last month, the all-electric PV sales amounted to 113,011 units, vigorously leaping 139% from the year-ago period and jumping 48% over a month ago.

The robust growth should be attributed to the rising performance of the car and SUV sectors. The June sales of pure electric cars and SUVs soared 153% and 119% respectively year on year to 82,358 units and 30,640 units. Although the MPV sector suffered a steep decline of 98% over a year earlier, it didn't affect the overall growth due to the small amount.

The wholesale volume of plug-in hybrid PVs reached 20,517 units, edging down 1% from the previous month and dropping 6% from the previous year. Year-to-date number was 119,490 units, showing a year-on-year increase of 26%.

Of that, sales of the plug-in hybrid cars and SUVs slid 17% and 5% to 10,106 units and 9,103 units, while the MPV’s performance shrank the overall decrease to some degree.

All BEV segments achieved remarkable year-on-year growth in June wholesale volume. The A00- and A0-segments saw their sales leap 67% and 53% respectively to 27,804 units and 19,414 units. Meanwhile, the A- and B-segments sported tremendous increase of 258% and 615% to 63,828 units and 1,530 units.

Regarding the segments of PHEV, wholesale volume of B- and C-segments in June reached 6,043 units (+96%) and 2,593 units (+179%), while the A-segment posted a year-on-year decrease of 37% with 11,233 cars sold.

The association's data showed that BAIC EU Series was still the champion China-made NEPV model by June retail sales. Another BAIC BJEV-owned model, the EC Series, gained marvelous year-on-year leap of 158033.3%. Changan Automobile's EADO EV moved up to the runner-up place with an impressive growth of 1005.4%.

Among the top 10 NEPV models by year-to-date retail sales, the top four places were entirely possessed by BYD’s models. Thanks to the outstanding performance in June, the EADO EV also entered the top 10 list this time.
