BYD e2 all-electric crossover rolls off production line in Changsha
Shanghai (ZXZC)- The BYD e2, another new model to be sold via the fresh “e” sales channel in addition to the BYD S2, has recently rolled off the production line at the Changsha plant and is set to go on sale in mid-July, according to local media.
The BEV model was showcased at the Auto Shanghai 2019. Positioned as a crossover that primarily targets young consumers, the BYD e2 will retain BYD's signature “Dragon Face” design with an unmistakable massive grille flanked by slim headlights. On the upper edge of the grille, there is a blue nameplate with “BYD” lettering in the exact middle, which is rather different from the Chinese characters adopted by BYD for the logo of Dynasty Series.
The rear end features a more aggressive fascia than that of the front face. Taillight cluster stretches across the entire tailgate with the “BUILD YOUR DREAMS” lettering in the middle. Its sports essence is further accentuated by a black diffuser.
The BYD measures 4,240mm long, 1,760mm wide and 1,530mm tall with a wheelbase spanning 2,610mm.
The BYD e2 offers an interior with design of simplicity, elegant materials and exquisite workmanship. The full liquid dashboard and the 10.1-inch liquid display at the center console are quite conspicuous. It is worth mentioning that the eye-catching 10.1-inch pad is outfitted with BYD’s DiLink in-car intelligent system.
Based on BYD's "e" platform, the e2 will carry a 160Wh/kg ternary-lithium battery pack. Thanks to the 1250-kg curb weight and the drag coefficient of 0.29, the new vehicle is able to consume 11.3kWh energy per 100km.
