The U.S. EV manufacturer kicked off at the same time of the Long Range RWD cars and plans to hand over them to consumers from this year's June. The delivery of the Model 3 Performance, which hasn't entered the MIIT's catalogue yet, will not be available until the first quarter of 2021. That explains why Tesla only revealed the pre-subsidy price.

According to the MIIT's records, the Long Range RWD measures 4,694mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,443mm tall, the same as that of the imported version. Curb weight is 1,745kg, 8kg lighter than the imported one.

Compared to the Model 3 Standard Range Plus, the Long Range RWD features some new facilities, such as the rear seat heating, floor mat, fog lights and updated audio system.

Driving the Long Range RWD is a permanent magnet synchronous motor that pumps out 202kW and 404 N·m, versus 220kW and 416 N·m for the imported version. Thanks to the battery system with energy density of 161Wh/kg, the vehicle boasts 668km of driving range based on China’s rating system.

The retail sales of the China-made Model 3 were estimated to reach 10,160 units, surging from 3,900 units in February, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Year-to-date deliveries were likely to be 16,680 units.
