Shanghai (ZXZC)- The PHEV (plug-in hybrid vehicle) version of the Geely Binyue, a SUV model going on sale on October 31, 2018, is said to head the market at the end of March or in early June, according to a local media outlet. It will the first PHEV model based on Geely’s BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) platform.

According to photos disclosed by the automaker, the Binyue PHEV’s exterior displays a great resemblance to the existing fuel-burning version, while adopting two-tone car body and 18-inch dual-five-spoke wheel hubs. Besides, the NEV SUV gets a charging port on the front fender. At the rear end, a “PHEV” lettering indicates its different powertrain with vehicles driven by combustion engine.

The interior features quite a similar style to the outgoing model. However, the old mechanical gear lever is replaced with an all-new electronic one that delivers more futuristic sense. Other niceties include APA (automated parking system), ICC (intelligent cruise control), LKA (lane-keeping assist), AEB-P (pedestrian automatic emergency braking) and SLIF (speed limit information function) systems.

Powering the new PHEV is a plug-in hybrid system that consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and a ternary lithium battery pack, churning out a total output up to 190kW and 415N·m of torque peak. The powering system is mated with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the EV-only mode, the vehicle has a range of 60km. The 0-100km/h can be done within 6.9 seconds.
