Mercedes-Benz launches EQS SUV in China with starting price of over $132,000

The EQS SUV is the latest offering from Mercedes-Benz in China, where it has previously released several all-electric models that have had lukewarm sales.

Mercedes-Benz is bringing its EQS SUV to China, though its high price tag means sales won't have much to look forward to.

The German luxury carmaker made the EQS SUV officially available in China yesterday with a starting price of RMB 910,500 ($132,020).

The vehicle is an all-electric large SUV based on Mercedes' EVA platform and is its first SUV based on the platform.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV measures 5,137 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width and 1,721 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,210 mm.

The vehicle is currently offered in three versions, two of which start at RMB 910,500 and the other at RMB 1,100,500.

The lower-priced two models are offered in single- and dual-motor versions with peak torques of 568 Nm and 800 Nm, respectively, although they both have a peak power of 265 kW.

These two versions take 6.9 seconds and 6.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, respectively.

The higher-priced version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV also has a peak motor power of 265 kW and a peak torque of 800 Nm, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.

All three versions are equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 111.8 kWh, which supports a maximum charging power of 145 kW and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 37 minutes.

The CLTC ranges for these three models are 742 km, 673 km and 670 km respectively.
