FAW-VW moves VW branding, marketing department to Beijing, deep into SUV, NEV fields

Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW-VW's VW brand moved its branding and marketing department to Beijing. Meanwhile, its North China sales department, which had been located in Chaoyang District of Beijing, has also been moved into the same building, according to local media.

The relocation of the branding and marketing department will help the automaker own a broader vision, a greater insight, more cooperation opportunities as well as more and better talents, according to Dong Xiuhui, general manager of FAW-VW sales company.

In 2017, FAW-VW's VW brand delivered a total of 1,405,088 vehicles with a year-on-year growth of 6.8%, relying on 7 sedan models. For the first three months of this year, the brand achieved a stable year-on-year sales growth of 6.1% with 330,420 units delivered. In 2018, the first year of conducting “2025 Strategy”, the automaker aims to accomplish a sales target of 1.45 million vehicles, even more.

Under the “Strategy 2025”, FAW-VW will basically complete the construction of its five major production bases in Changchun in Northeast China, Foshan in South China, Chengdu in Southwest China, Qingdao in East China and Tianjin in North China.

At Auto China 2018, FAW-VW's VW brand has showcased its first SUV model named T-Roc. In the next three years, the company will launch 5 SUV models, covering segments of small-sized, compact, mid-sized and full-size SUV subdivisions. Apart from the T-Roc and a mid-sized SUV that are expected to hit the market in 2018, another three SUV models will go on sale by the end of 2020.

In addition, FAW-VW has a blue print to enlarge its NEV (new energy vehicle) lineup from 2019, which contains the BEV (battery electric vehicle) models of the Bora and the Golf and a PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) model of the Magotan.
