BYD and Nio's numbers were higher than the previous week, while Tesla's were lower than the previous week.

Insurance registrations for cars from multiple new energy vehicle (NEV) brands in China continued to recover last week, as the impact of the Chinese New Year holiday further faded.

BYD's NEVs saw 31,417 insurance registrations for the week ending February 12, up from 24,280 the week before, according to numbers shared by auto blogger @一路向北BYD on Weibo today.

BYD's all-electric models had 16,047 insurance registrations for the week, with the Dolphin recording the highest at 4,539, followed by the Yuan Plus at 4,412.

BYD's plug-in hybrid models had 15,370 insurance registrations last week, with the Song Plus DM-i at 5,512 and the Song Pro DM-i at 2,401.

Tesla vehicles saw 6,963 insurance registrations for the week, down from 8,643 the week before.

Tesla Model 3 had 1,096 insurance registrations last week, according to the blogger. Considering that Tesla is currently only delivering Model 3 and Model Y in China, this means that Model Y insurance registrations were 5,867 last week.

Nio vehicles had 3,045 insurance registrations last week, up from 1,948 the week before.

The Nio ET5 figure for the week was 1,457 units, the ES6 was 928 units, the EC6 was 216 units, the ES7 was 185 units, the ET7 was 138 units and the ES8 was 121 units.

Li Auto vehicles registered 4,062 units, up from 2,240 the previous week. The Li L9 was 1,860 units, Li L8 was 1,760 units, Li ONE was 329 units and Li L7 was 113 units.

Xpeng was 1,396 units, up from 975 units the previous week. The Xpeng P7 had 532 insurance registrations last week, G9 had 268, P5 had 399 and G3 had 197.

Zeekr had 547 insurance registrations last week, down 1.3 percent from the previous week. Zeekr 001 had 539 and Zeekr 009 had 8.

Volkswagen and BMW had figures of 1,498 and 682 units respectively for the week.

In terms of the overall market, passenger cars registered 280,741 insurance units in China last week, up 4.82 percent from 267,843 units the week before, according to data shared by another auto blogger @痛快舒畅.

Among them, the number of NEVs was 85,572, up 22.79 percent from 69,692 the previous week; the number of traditional fuel vehicles was 195,169, down 1.5 percent from 198,151 the previous week.

Overall sales of NEVs in China and sales of major brands fell in January due to the Chinese New Year holiday, which took place from January 21 to 27.

Retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China fell 6.3 percent to 332,000 units in January, down 48.3 percent from 640,000 units in December, according to data released earlier this month by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

This is lower than the CPCA's estimate of 360,000 units released on January 28, indicating that the market performance was weaker than expected in the last days of January.

BYD sold 151,341 NEVs in January, down 35.65 percent from 235,197 units in December, ending a 10-month streak of sequential growth.

Nio, Xpeng and Li Auto delivered 8,506, 5,218 and 15,141 vehicles respectively in January, down 46 percent, 53.79 percent and 28.69 percent respectively from December.
