Deliveries of the new EC6 are expected to begin before the end of May, according to previous hints from Nio management.

It is powered by twin motors produced by Nio's electric drive systems division in Hefei, Anhui province, with a maximum power of 150 kW and 210 kW, respectively, and can support a top speed of 200 km/h.

The launch of the EC6, based on the NT 1.0 platform, took place on December 28, 2019, with first deliveries in September 2020. The model is currently offered in three versions, priced at RMB 396,000, 436,000 and 496,000 respectively.

The length, width and height of the current EC6 are 4,850 mm, 1,965 mm and 1,731/ 1,714 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.

The two lower-priced versions of the EC6 on the NT 1.0 platform feature dual motors both with a maximum power of 160 kW, while the highest-priced version features a front motor with a maximum power of 160 kW and a rear motor with 240 kW.

It is worth noting that Nio's previous battery supplier was only CATL, but starting with the two new models EC7 and the new ES8 launched at the end of last year, the company was bringing in CALB as a new supplier.

As of now, the battery suppliers on the regulatory filing pages of the new EC6, EC7, new ES8 and new ES6 include both CATL and CALB.

The new EC6 will support the option of retractable power tow hooks and will come standard with a power rear wing, the latest regulatory filing shows.

The new EC6 could be one of the models that Nio will release in the next few months.

Nio currently has eight models on sale, including the NT 1.0 platform-based ES8, ES6 and EC6, as well as the new ES8, ES7, EC7, ET7 and ET5 on the NT 2.0 platform.

The EC7 and the all-new ES8 were launched at Nio Day 2022 on December 24, 2022, with deliveries to begin in May and June 2023, respectively.

In a media communication on February 6, Nio co-founder and president Qin Lihong said that one or two of the company's yet-to-be-released new models may be delivered earlier than the EC7 and the new ES8.

Qin's remarks and the latest information mean that deliveries of the new EC6 could begin before the end of May.

Spy shots of the new EC6 had already started circulating on Chinese social media a month ago, when some bloggers hinted that the model could be equivalent to a lower-priced version of the EC7, and thus more affordable.

To make way for the release of the new models, Nio started offering discounts earlier this month to clear some of its inventory of cars.
