Model 3 retail sales in China increased 24.53 percent in December compared to November, while Model Y sales decreased 43.94 percent from November.

For the full year 2022, Model Y retail sales in China were 315,314 units, up 85.64 percent from 169,853 units in 2021.

In 2022, Tesla delivered 439,770 vehicles in China, up 37.11 percent from 320,743 vehicles in 2021.

In December, Tesla's Shanghai plant sold 55,796 China-made vehicles, including 13,870 vehicles exported and 41,926 vehicles delivered in China.

Tesla sold 44.37 percent fewer China-made vehicles in December than the 100,291 vehicles sold in November and 21.24 percent fewer than the 70,847 vehicles sold in the same month last year.

China is one of Tesla's most important markets, though the electric vehicle maker has faced weaker demand in the past few months due to slowing economic growth and the impact of the Covid outbreak on consumer confidence.

Tesla sharply cut the prices of its entire Model 3 and Model Y lineup in China on January 6, marking its second price cut in China in three months.

Tesla received 30,000 orders in China within three days of announcing the price cut, local media outlet Sina reported yesterday.
