Shanghai (ZXZC)- Dongfeng Motor Company Limited (Dongfeng Motor) will pay a RMB 6,044,584.33 fine for illegal construction of 15,177.28 square meters in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province according to a notice from the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong. The illegal construction is the experiment workshop of Dongfeng Nissan's technology center. 

According to the notice, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong investigated Dongfeng Motor's illegal construction on Mar. 13, 2018. The investigation found that Dongfeng Motor arbitrarily constructed the experiment workshop of Dongfeng Nissan's technology center, which covers an area of 15,177.28 square meters, at NO.12, Fengshen Avenue, Huadu District, Guangzhou in March, 2015 without any construction project planning permit, and finished construction in March, 2017.

The notice pointed out that Dongfeng's illegal construction has violated the 41th item of the Urban and Rural Planning Law of the People's Republic of China. According to the 41th item, one unit or person who wants to construct a building must get approval from local government or the relevant department. If not, they will get punishment from the government or the relevant department. What's more, if the illegal construction covers an area of more than 10,000 square meters, the illegal construction would be defined as a severe violation of laws.

Luckily, the 64th item of the Urban and Rural Planning Law provides a remedy for Dongfeng's violation. Therefore, the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Guangdong decided to impose a RMB 6,044,585.53 fine on Dongfeng's illegal construction, and requested Dongfeng Motor to pay off the fine within fifteen days. If Dongfeng Motor has any delays, the fine will increase 3% per day after 15days.
