WEY to launch hydrogen-powered vehicle model in 2020, foray into Germany in 2021
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Great Wall Motor's premium SUV brand WEY plans to release its first hydrogen-powered vehicle model in 2020 and formally launch fuel-cell volume production model in 2022, aiming to making NEV sales account for 50% of the brand’s overall sales by 2030, the automaker said at the WEY brand two-year anniversary on December 10.
Found in 2016, WEY has already seen its total sales exceed 200,000 units. For the first eleven months this year, the brand delivered 127,760 vehicles in total with an impressive year-on-year leap of 96.31%. It is ready to roll out over 10 new and refreshed models in 2019. Besides, the SUV brand is ambitious to enter Germany in 2021 and make inroads into North American market afterwards.
WEY announced the "C+" intelligent strategy at the same time which involves four core essences, namely, Connection, Community, Carefree and Commitment. It is reported that the automaker will start the mass production of the models fitted with 3D holographic image technology in 2020. The WEY P8GT is likely to hit the market in the second quarter next year, boasting the futuristic technology of intelligent headlights with a million pixels of resolution.
Moreover, WEY strives to achieve the Level 5 fully automated driving in 2025, said a technical executive from Great Wall Motor. He added that an i-Pilot 2.0-based prototype car developed by WEY has been granted with a license to carry out autonomous driving road tests in Michigan.
