Dongfeng's electric off-road brand M-Hero plugs into Nio's charging network
Dongfeng Motor's premium electric off-road brand, M-Hero, has plugged into Nio's charging network, becoming the 12th brand to do so.
Dongfeng Motor's premium electric off-road brand, M-Hero, has plugged into Nio's (NYSE: NIO) charging network, marking the latest brand to utilize one of China's largest charging networks.
M-Hero has partnered with Nio Power, Nio's energy business unit, for charging services, the Dongfeng unit announced today on Weibo.
M-Hero didn't mention any more details about the partnership.
Nio later also announced the partnership in a statement and said that from September 5, M-Hero users will be able to find and use Nio's charging posts across the country through the latter's app, in-vehicle screen.
Nio's charging network has always been open to other brands of EVs. The direct collaboration of other car companies and partners with Nio will help provide a better charging experience.
The electric vehicle (EV) maker has one of the largest number of public charging stations among Chinese auto brands, with 2,334 supercharging stations providing 10,632 chargers and 1,636 destination charging stations providing 12,582 chargers in China as of today.
The company's signature battery swap stations numbered 2,505 in China, of which 841 are located along highways.
Nio provided 2,383,168 charging services in August and cumulatively provided more than 46.3 million charging services by the end of August, with 80 percent of those orders serving non-Nio-branded vehicles, according to data released by the company yesterday.
M-Hero is a brand announced by Dongfeng on August 27, 2022, when two concept vehicles, the M-Terrain and M-Terrain S, were unveiled.
In August 2023, the M-Hero 917 production car was launched, offering battery electric vehicle (BEV) and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions, with starting prices of RMB 697,700 ($98,280) and RMB 637,700, respectively.
On May 8, M-Hero said the M-Hero 917 prototype was undergoing testing in the United Arab Emirates, marking the model's Middle East debut. The model has previously been launched in Switzerland.
Prior to the M-Hero, 11 brands including Geely, Jiyue, Polestar, and Hongqi have announced access to Nio's charging network, according to CnEVPost's tracking.
