Zeekr to launch new models on Aug 13, refreshed 001 and 007 expected
A Zeekr poster hints that the Zeekr 001 shooting brake and the Zeekr 007 sedan will get the 2025 model year updates, both just about half a year after the launch of their predecessors.
Zeekr (NYSE: ZK) is expected to roll out updates for two of its main-selling models in 2 days, just about half a year after the launch of their predecessors, as model refresh cycles for electric vehicle (EV) makers get shorter.
Zeekr will hold a launch event for its 2025 model year products on August 13, which will begin at 7 pm Beijing Time, the premium EV subsidiary of Geely Holding Group announced today on Weibo.
Its Weibo was accompanied by a poster suggesting that the Zeekr 001 shooting brake and the Zeekr 007 sedan will receive the 2025 model year updates.
In addition to those two models, Zeekr currently sells the Zeekr X compact SUV (sport utility vehicle) and the Zeekr 009 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle). All of the company's current models are battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
The Zeekr 001, Zeekr's first model, was launched on April 15, 2021, and deliveries began in October of the same year.
The company launched the 2024 Zeekr 001 on February 27, upgrading the specifications while bringing down the prices. The Zeekr 001 now has a starting price range of RMB 269,000 ($37,530) to RMB 329,000.
In addition to the regular Zeekr 001, Zeekr also has a supercar variant based on the model, the Zeekr 001 FR, with a starting price of RMB 769,000 yuan.
The Zeekr 001 has been Zeekr's main seller, with 76,246 units delivered in 2023, contributing 64 percent of the 118,685 units delivered by Zeekr in the year.
By the end of July this year, cumulative deliveries of the Zeekr 001 stood at 218,097 units, contributing 72.66 percent of the Zeekr's total deliveries of 300,158, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The Zeekr 007 was launched on December 27 last year and is Zeekr's first model to target the mainstream EV market, with all other models targeting niche markets. The sedan's current starting price range is RMB 209,900 to RMB 299,900.
So far this year, Zeekr 001 has delivered 30,662 vehicles, including 3,498 in July.
Zeekr delivered 15,655 vehicles in July, down 22.14 percent from June, as it conducted a production line upgrade that lasted about three weeks starting in late July.
The company aims to see single-month peak deliveries of 30,000 units in the fourth quarter. It is targeting full-year 2024 deliveries of 230,000 units, double the 2023 level.
In the January-July period, Zeekr delivered 103,525 vehicles, which means that it will need to deliver an average of about 25,000 vehicles per month in the remaining months if it is to meet its annual target.
Zeekr will launch the Zeekr 7X midsize SUV later this year, saying last month it will be its first family SUV.
