Cumulative deliveries of the Aito M7 have exceeded 200,000 units, contributing to more than half of Aito's deliveries.

Aito, a car brand backed by Chinese tech giant Huawei, saw its 400,000th vehicle roll off the production line today, two and a half years after the new brand's inception on December 2, 2021.

Aito's 400,000th vehicle is an M9 SUV (sport utility vehicle), the most expensive in its current lineup, with a starting price of RMB 469,800 ($64,760).

The brand, owned by Chongqing-based Seres Group, celebrated the 400,000th vehicle today at its plant in Chongqing, where it was delivered to Li De, one of Aito's top supply chain executives.

Aito's growth is accelerating, and delivery of the brand's 1 millionth vehicle is expected soon, Richar Yu, chairman of Huawei's smart car solutions business unit, said at today's ceremony.

Starting in September, Huawei's Advanced Driving System (ADS) 3.0 will be available for the Aito M7 and M9, bringing with it the use of end-to-end technology, Yu said.

By the end of October onwards, the overall smart driving capabilities of the Aito branded models are expected to be taken to the next level, he said.

Aito is a premium car brand launched by Seres in association with Huawei on December 2, 2021, and is the first new brand to be launched by Huawei in partnership with a car company.

Apart from Aito, Huawei has created more new brands with Chery, Beijing Automotive Group (BAIC), and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).

There are currently three models under the Aito umbrella, including the mid-size SUV Aito M5, the mid-to-large-size SUV Aito M7, and the large SUV Aito M9.

The Aito M7 is available only in extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions, while the M5 and M9 are available in both EREV and battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.

Cumulative deliveries of the Aito M7 have exceeded 200,000 units to date, Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business unit announced on July 24. The models that are currently being built by Huawei jointly with other car companies fall under the HIMA umbrella.

Huawei's cooperation with Seres is deepening further, with the latter announcing earlier this month that it planned to acquire trademarks as well as design patents held by Huawei regarding Aito for RMB 2.5 billion.

The deal won't affect the conduct of Seres' joint business with Huawei, and the two sides will further deepen their partnership, Seres said in a July 3 announcement.

In another announcement on July 28, Seres said it planned to invest in Huawei's auto parts company called Newcool.

Changan Automobile signed a memorandum of cooperation on investment with Huawei on November 25, 2023, to support the latter's establishment of the company later named Newcool.

Huawei plans to integrate the core technologies and resources of its smart car solutions business into the new company, which would aim to become a world-class industry leader in automotive smart driving systems and components, according to a previous Changan announcement.
