China NEV retail at 461,000 in Jul 1-21, down 2% from same period last month

China's retail penetration of NEVs stood at 49.35 percent in the July 1-21 period, and 42.45 percent year-to-date.

China's new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales growth slowed last week from the previous week, leaving the month-to-date figure lower than the same period last month.

Retail sales of passenger NEVs in China for the July 1-21 period were 461,000 units, up 26 percent from the same period last year, but down 2 percent from the same period last month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

In the July 1-14 period, China's passenger NEV retail sales were 286,000 units, up 27 percent from the same period last year and up 6 percent from the same period last month, according to data released by the CPCA last week.

The July 1-21 decline meant that China's NEV retail sales last week dragged down the month-to-date performance.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of China's passenger NEVs stood at 4.574 million units, up 32 percent from a year ago.

Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from July 1-21 were 437,000 units, up 11 percent from a year ago but down 14 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, the cumulative wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs stood at 5.057 million units, up 28 percent from a year earlier.

From July 1-21, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 934,000 units, up 1 percent compared with the same period last year, but down 2 percent from the same period last month.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger cars in China totaled 10.417 million units, up 3 percent year-on-year.

This means that China's NEV penetration at retail stood at 49.35 percent from July 1-21 and 42.45 percent year-to-date.

In the first week of July -- July 1-7 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 39,189, up 6 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from the previous month.

In the second week of July -- July 8-14- - average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 43,330, down 1 percent year-on-year while up 4 percent from the previous month.

In the third week of July -- July 15-21 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 50,941, down 1 percent year-on-year and down 14 percent from the previous month.

For July 1-21, China's wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 843,000 units, 13 percent lower year-on-year and 17 percent lower than the same period last month.

During July 1-7, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 27,877, down 26 percent year-on-year and down 21 percent from the previous month.

During July 8-14, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 36,276, down 22 percent year-on-year and down 10 percent from the previous month.

During July 15-21, average daily wholesale sales of Chinese passenger cars were 56,270, up 2 percent year-on-year while 18 percent lower than the previous month.

Cumulative Chinese passenger car wholesale sales so far this year were 12.595 million units, up 5 percent year-on-year.
