That's just three months after the mobile app reached 5 million registered users on April 17.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) has built a popular charging app in addition to one of China's largest charging networks.

Jia Dian (加电), which literally means add electricity, saw the number of registered users top 6 million today, the electric vehicle (EV) maker said.

This comes just three months after the mobile app reached 5 million registered users on April 17.

Nio launched the Jia Dian App in September 2019, claiming to support 90 percent of public charging piles in China.

The app saw registered users exceed 1 million in June 2022, which was 34 months after it went live.

The app reached 2 million registered users in January 2023, 3 million in July and reached 4 million last November.

Over the past five years, the Jia Dian App has provided charging services to more than 200 new energy vehicle (NEV) brands, according to the company.

To date, the mobile app has accessed more than 1.06 million charging piles, and users have logged more than 531 million kWh of charging using the app.

The Jia Dian App offers features including scanning QR codes to initiate charging, path planning, route navigation, and community interaction.

One of its main marketing points is that it supports users to submit their feedback on the charging piles they have used, a crowdsourcing approach that allows users to largely avoid using faulty charging piles.

As one of the earliest EV startups in China, Nio has also been actively building charging infrastructure over the past few years.

As of today, Nio has 2,445 battery swap stations in China, as well as 2,298 supercharging stations offering 10,541 charging piles, according to its charging map.

It also has 1,615 destination charging stations offering 12,350 charging piles.

Yesterday, Nio announced that Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business unit was connected to its charging network, and brands including Aito, Luxeed, and Stelato will be able to get a better experience when using Nio charging piles.
