This is BYD's first hybrid launch in Ecuador, after it introduced the Han EV, Yuan Plus EV, Dolphin, and Tang EV in the country.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the Song Plus DM-i in Ecuador, marking its first time launching a hybrid model in the South American country.

BYD recently launched the Song Plus DM-i at Ecuador's Guayaquil Auto Show, the country's largest auto show, according to a July 14 press release from BYD.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker held its brand launch in Ecuador's capital, Quito, on May 3, 2023, and gave the Han EV, Yuan Plus EV and Dolphin, three battery electric vehicle (BEV) models, a debut in the country.

On July 18, 2023, BYD said it brought the Tang EV to Ecuador.

The Song Plus DM-i is powered by BYD DM-i technology and has a combined range of 1,105 kilometers and 337 horsepower, according to the company.

The model's 15.6-inch Intelligent-Rotate Screen and Infinity Deluxe sound system create a seamless and intelligent cabin experience, BYD said.

"Our extensive portfolio presented in Ecuador undoubtedly represents cutting-edge technology and unwavering dedication to a greener future, striving to provide optimal mobility and efficiency tailored to our customers' needs," Santiago Mena, Brand Manager of Andor Group, BYD's partner in Ecuador, said.

BYD also announced at the event the opening of a new dealership on Avenida de las Americas in Guayaquil.

In addition, as part of its global strategy, BYD will continue to actively promote its Ecuadorian business, it said.

BYD sold 341,658 NEVs in June, up 35.02 percent year-on-year and up 2.97 percent from May, according to figures it announced on July 1.

This included 340,211 passenger NEVs and 1,447 commercial NEVs.

In June, BYD sold 26,995 NEVs in overseas markets, up 156.22 percent year-on-year but down 28.01 percent from May.
