BYD launches 5 models in Tunisia
BYD has launched three BEV models in Tunisia -- Tang EV, Dolphin and Atto 3, and two PHEV models -- King and Song Plus DM-i.
BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched five models in Tunisia as it continues to expand its presence in international markets.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker rolled out three battery electric vehicle (BEV) models and two plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) models at a launch event in Tunisia on June 27, according to a press release yesterday.
The three BEVs are the Tang EV, Dolphin and Atto 3, while the two PHEVs are the King and Song Plus DM-i. The Atto 3 and King are known as the Yuan Plus and Chaser 05 respectively in China.
The move enriches BYD's brand image and product lineup in Tunisia, and is a key move for BYD to deepen its efforts there following Tunisian President Kais Saied's visit to its global headquarters in early June, the company said.
BYD has opened a new chapter in Tunisia, and going forward it will continue to introduce products, technologies and drive the transformation of vehicle electrification locally and across Africa, said AD Huang, general manager of BYD's Middle East and Africa sales division.
BYD is the largest NEV maker in China, selling a record 341,658 NEVs in June, up 35.02 percent year-on-year and up 2.97 percent from May, according to figures it announced on July 1.
This included 340,211 passenger NEVs and 1,447 commercial NEVs.
In June, BYD sold 26,995 NEVs in overseas markets, up 156.22 percent year-on-year but down 28.01 percent from May.
So far this year, BYD has sold 203,404 NEVs overseas, up 173.80 percent year-on-year.
