BYD just saw its 7 millionth NEV roll off the line on March 25.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will see its new milestones in international markets and new energy vehicle (NEV) production two days later.

The company will celebrate the inauguration of its Thailand plant and the roll out of its 8 millionth NEV on July 4, it said on Weibo today.

The Chinese NEV maker will hold a celebration ceremony and will stream the event live on its social media platforms starting at 11:30 am Beijing time on July 4.

BYD didn't mention any further details; it just saw its 7 millionth NEV roll off the assembly line on March 25. That means the company produced its latest 1 million NEVs in less than four months.

BYD entered the auto industry in 2003, it sold its first NEV in 2008, and it currently sells dozens of models.

On May 19, 2021, BYD saw its one millionth NEV roll off the production line, making it the first Chinese automaker to reach that milestone in the NEV segment.

On August 9, 2023, BYD saw its 5 millionth NEV roll off the line, and on November 24, 2023, BYD saw its 6 millionth NEV roll off the line.

On March 29, BYD announced at the Bangkok auto show that its EV plant in Thailand would be completed and start production in the third quarter of this year.

BYD signed a land purchase agreement with Thai industrial property developer WHA Industrial Development PLC, a subsidiary of WHA Group, back in September 2022 to build the EV plant there.

On March 10, 2023, BYD held a groundbreaking ceremony for the plant in Thailand. The plant was expected to start production in 2024 with an annual capacity of about 150,000 vehicles, BYD said at the time.

In addition to the Thailand plant, BYD's plant in Uzbekistan saw its first mass-produced vehicles roll off the line on June 27. The company is also building passenger car plants in Hungary and Brazil.
