MIIT: China to develop demonstration area for fuel cell vehicles

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Qu Guochun, deputy director at the industry equipment department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), delivered a keynote speech at the 2018 International Forum (TEDA) on Chinese Automobile Industry Development, which was held between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2.

He stated that new energy vehicle (NEV) has entered into a mature development stage, however, the safety issue still cannot be neglected, Qu Guochun warned. Since NEV has entered into a crucial development stage, MIIT will focus on the implementation of dual-credit policy, completion of NEV subsidy policy system, conduction of demonstration operation for fuel cell vehicles and the enhancement of NEV safety management.

Specifically, China will seek an area that boasts good basis for fuel cell vehicles, and develop it into a demonstration area which runs fuel cell vehicles, in order to make breakthroughs in the key part of the industry chain as well as complete standards and systems.

He emphasized safety in NEV development, adding that intelligent connected vehicles will dominate the future auto industry, and thus will play a crucial role in China's transformation from a large vehicle market to a potent vehicle market. Moreover, China will also rev up efforts in self-developed high-accuracy positioning, complete law and regulation system, accelerate road tests, and conduct intelligence reconstruction for various roads.
