Nio Day 2024 to be held in 1 of these 8 cities
Nio Day 2024 will be held in one of eight cities -- Guangzhou, Harbin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan, Xiamen and Zhengzhou.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) has announced the shortlist of cities to host Nio Day 2024, after starting the process of selecting cities for the event 10 days ago.
Applications to submit cities to host Nio Day 2024 closed at 10 pm on June 19, and Nio received applications from multiple cities, the event's organizing committee said today in a statement posted to the Nio App.
After an initial venue check by the organizing committee of the applicant cities, the following cities were shortlisted:
Guangzhou, Harbin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan, Xiamen and Zhengzhou.
The process of identifying cities to host Nio Day also aims to bring the charm and culture of each city to a wider audience, Nio said.
Among these cities, Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, has the most Nio battery swap stations, with 74, followed by Guangzhou, Guangdong province, with 65, according to data compiled by CnEVPost from Nio's charging map.
As of today, Nio has 2,435 battery swap stations in China.
Nio Day is Nio's biggest annual event, usually held at the end of each year or the beginning of the following year.
Starting in 2020, Nio let its community of users decide the city where Nio Day will be held by voting. Over the past four years, 17 cities have entered bids to host Nio Day events.
On June 14, Nio launched the process of identifying cities to host Nio Day 2024, requiring candidate cities to have venues available for 10 consecutive days from December 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025, that can accommodate at least 8,000 people.
On July 6, the Nio Day organizing committee will nominate three candidate cities in preparation for a user vote.
From July 12-19, Nio will showcase the three cities on its channels including Nio App, Nio Radio.
From July 19-21, users can vote for the host city they support in the Nio App.
The last time the event, Nio Day 2023, was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province in Northwest China on December 23, 2023, when Nio unveiled its executive flagship sedan, the ET9, with deliveries set to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
There are no clues as to what new models or technologies Nio will unveil at Nio Day 2024.
