Regulatory filing: Nio Onvo L60 to use BYD batteries, offers single and dual motor options
The Nio Onvo L60 will use lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by BYD, with single and dual motor options, and will be built at Nio's F2 plant.
The Onvo L60's filing pages don't mention information about the battery's capacity.
The batteries used in Nio models are mainly from Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL, SHE: 300750) and have capacities of 75-kWh and 100-kWh respectively.
The company has also teamed up with local startup Beijing WeLion New Energy Technology to create a 150-kWh semi-solid-state battery pack that offers a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. The ultra-long range battery pack has become available on a daily rental basis this month.
When Nio launched the Onvo brand on May 15, it said the model had a CLTC range of 555 kilometers for the standard-range version and more than 730 kilometers for the long-range version.
Like Nio models, the L60 will also be able to use the ultra-long range battery pack, resulting in a range of over 1,000 kilometers, the company said at the time.
However, today's filing pages do not include batteries from WeLion, meaning the Onvo L60 may not be able to use the 150-kWh pack right after launch.
Nio began pre-sales of the Onvo L60 on May 15 for RMB 219,900 ($30,320), with official launch and delivery set for September.
The model's single-motor version is powered by a rear motor with a peak power of 240 kW and supports a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
Its weight is available in 1885 kg and 1900 kg versions, which may be different when equipped with battery packs of different capacities.
The dual-motor variant of the Onvo L60 has an additional front motor with a peak power of 100 kW and supports a top speed of 203 kilometers per hour.
The weight of the dual-motor variant is available in 1955 kg and 1970 kg versions.
The motor supplier for the model is Nio's subsidiary in Hefei.
The Onvo L60 bears the "ONVO" logo in English in the center of the rear end, and Nio Onvo's Chinese name "蔚来乐道" in the lower right corner.
Its single-motor variant displays the model number as L60 on the lower left side of the rear, while the dual-motor version has an additional "AWD".
