Nio users have driven a total of nearly 1 billion kilometers using NOP and NOP+ by the end of May.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) saw record user adoption of smart driving features last month, as it tries to build user habits with free trials.

In May, Nio users topped 100 million kilometers in a single month using smart driving features, including 76.94 million kilometers, or 72.7 percent, with the pilot assist driving feature on, the company said today.

This is the first time Nio users have exceeded the 100 million mark in monthly smart driving miles, higher than the 64.61 million kilometers in April.

Nio's pilot assisted driving features include NOP (Navigate on Pilot) and the more powerful NOP+, and they totaled nearly 1 billion kilometers through the end of May, according to the company.

In May, Nio added 20,544 new smart driving users, bringing the total number of users to 515,811, the company said.

That new user addition is also Nio's vehicle deliveries in May, and the total user count is its cumulative vehicle deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The total number of NOP+ users has reached 266,309, Nio said, implying that it has delivered 266,309 vehicles based on the NT 2.0 platform and 249,502 NT 1.0 vehicles.

NOP+ is Nio's ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) feature based on its NT 2.0 platform that enables pilot assisted driving on highways and city roads.

Nio vehicles based on the NT 1.0 platform have the NOP driver assistance system, which enables pilot assisted driving on highways only.

Nio added 30.97 million km of verified milage of smart driving in urban areas in May, bringing the cumulative verified milage to 350 million km, according to the company.

Nio's smart driving available road milage increased by 192,000 km in May, bringing the total available roads to 1.4 million km, including 1,039,000 km in urban areas, covering 726 cities.

The company's smart driving feature is covering more battery swap stations, allowing users to automatically navigate to a station and change batteries automatically while using the smart driving feature.

As of the end of May, 294 Nio battery swap stations support Power Swap on Pilot (PSP), representing 37 percent of the number of stations located along highways.

In May, Nio provided 2,957 PSP services to its users, it said.

Nio vehicles' active safety systems helped avoid 76,966 potential accidents in May, the company added.
