First NIO battery swapping station prepares for service in Shenzhen
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese fledgling EV maker NIO finished the testing and adjusting of its first battery swapping station in the early morning on May 20, according to NIO. It is said that the battery swapping station is also China's first battery swapping station targeting individual customers.
As planned, NIO will build more than 1,100 battery swapping stations and over 1,200 mobile charging stations by 2020. It is known that the NIO ES8 can be 80% charged in one hour under the fast-charging mode.
In addition, NIO had established partnerships with China's two major power grid operators previously. On Dec. 27, 2017, NIO signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Southern Heshun Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Heshun), a subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid, to establish a long-term and stable strategic partnership in development and operation of battery charging and swapping network.
Based on the intelligent technology of mobile Internet and their advantageous resources, NIO and Heshun would jointly build battery charging and swapping facilities with their platforms interconnected.
On November 27, 2017, NIO also signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the State Grid Electric Vehicle Service Company, a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China, to integrate brand and resources advantages on both sides to foster a long-term steady partnership.
The agreement targeted to promote the in-depth cooperation between the companies, especially the cooperation in energy field, such as the building and operation of battery charging and swapping network, and battery energy storage. By virtue of the internet and the artificial intelligence technology on both sides, the companies endeavor to create innovative new energy solutions and mobility solutions.
