Changan Auto to build four independent brands
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile (Changan Auto) plans to build four independent brands and promote 21 BEVs (battery electric vehicle) and 12 HEVs (hybrid electric vehicles) in total by 2025, the company released its new strategies on April 23.
Apart from the existing Changan Passenger Vehicle (PV), the company will still promote an all-new mid-to-high-end brand. Besides, the automaker officially renamed Changan commercial vehicle unit as “Oushang Cars” and its light vehicle unit as “Kaicheng Cars” which is positioned as a smart logistics CV brand working on improving the urban logistics efficiency.
In new energy vehicle (NEV) area, the automaker will comprehensively implement the Mission Shangri-La. The company plans to complete 3 major NEV platforms by 2020 and launch a total of 21 BEVs and 12 HEVs by 2025, covering whole series from small-sized vehicle to high-performance coupe.
In the second half of this year, Changan Auto will release an intelligentization strategy dubbed “Beidou Tianshu (in Chinese)” to build an intelligent vehicle platform that is bolstered by technologies of intelligent driving, connectivity and intelligent interaction. In addition, the automaker is ambitious to realize autonomous driving under certain conditions by 2020 and mass produce L4 autonomous vehicles in 2025.
With regards to the marketing channels, Changan Auto will build a sound big data operation system and draw up various operating strategies to meet consumers' different demands. Meanwhile, the company will strengthen the R&D of OTA (over-the-air) remote maintenance technologies and accelerate the platform integration so as to shorten production cycle and expedite product iteration.
Changan Auto will strive to deliver a total of 4 million vehicles in 2020, accounting for 12.7% of total annual sales in China. Among that, the deliveries of Changan Auto's China-branded vehicles are set to reach 2.46 million units, targeting the sales champion nationwide and the top 12 seller worldwide and NEV sales will reach 350 thousand units. Moreover, the automaker aims to obtain 15.7% market shares in China with 6 million vehicles delivered in 2025.
