Geely to release three new EV models in 2018

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely will make further deployment in NEV field and shape a product lineup with almost 40 NEV models by 2020. It will release 3 NEV models in 2018, including the Emgrand GSE (EV version of the Emgrand GS), the all-new Emgrand PHEV and a forward-engineering new model. With these new NEV models, Geely aims to challenge an annual NEV sales target of 50,000 units in 2018, according to Zhuge Huanhuan, general manager of Geely NEV Sales Company.

The Emgrand GSE is expected to hit the market in July, 2018. It features long and narrow headlights, which stretch to the front fenders. In addition, it features separated-structure tail lights, a roof with two optional colors and a silver luggage rack. Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor, the Geely Emgrand GSE can deliver a maximum power output of 120kW and a peak torque of 250Nm. Moreover, it boasts a range of 353km.

Hitting the market in November, 2017, the Geely Emgrand PHEV offers three variants. This year, Geely will release the upgraded version of the model, the all-new Emgrand PHEV. The new model features long and narrow headlights connected with the front intake grille. Powered by a hybrid system featuring a 1.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine, an electric driving motor and a three-ternary lithium battery pack, mated with an E-CVT, the new model can deliver a peak torque of 339Nm. It can also deliver a maximum power output of 76kW and 114kW respectively by the respective gasoline engine and the electric motor. 

Based on the PMA platform, Geely's pure electric vehicle models include A+ class CUV, A0 class crossover, A/B class sedan and B class SUV. The new model which is expected to hit the market by the end of this year is expected to be positioned as an A+ class urban crossover with a maximum range of 500km. With a price of less than RMB 150,000, Geely New Energy claims that the new model will take on the Tesla Model 3 after it hit the market.
