BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has rolled out the Glory Edition updates for the Tang EV and Tang DM-p, after the other variant of the family, the Tang DM-i, received an update two months ago.

The new energy vehicle (NEV) maker today launched the Glory Editions for the all-electric Tang EV as well as the hybrid Tang DM-p, bringing down the starting prices, continuing what it has been doing for the past two months.

The Tang EV Glory Edition starts at RMB 219,800 ($30,350), down RMB 30,000, or 12 percent, from its predecessor's RMB 249,800.

The Tang DM-p Glory Edition starts at RMB 229,800, down RMB 40,000, or 14.83 percent, from its predecessor's RMB 269,800.

The BYD brand's models include the Dynasty and Ocean series, with the Tang family being the flagship SUV of the Dynasty lineup.

By form of power, BYD's models include an EV variant for pure electric, and a DM variant for hybrid. Its DM variants include the more fuel-economy-oriented DM-i version and the more performance-oriented DM-p version.

The Tang family of models includes the Tang DM-i, Tang EV, and Tang DM-p, with the Tang DM-i getting a Glory Edition update on February 28.

The Tang EV Glory Edition includes three variants with starting prices of RMB 219,800, RMB 239,800, and RMB 269,800, respectively, and they all receive a price cut of RMB 30,000 compared to its predecessor.

The Tang EV Glory Edition measures 4,900 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

The model's three variants are equipped with battery packs with capacities of 90.3 kWh, 108.8 kWh, 108.8 kWh and claimed ranges of 600 km, 730 km and 635 km respectively.

The Tang DM-p Glory Edition is offered in three variants with a starting price of RMB 229,800, RMB 249,800 and RMB 269,800 respectively, all of which are RMB 40,000 lower than its predecessor.

The Tang DM-p consists of two regular models, as well as a Warrior Edition. All of them are four-wheel drive and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in as little as 4.3 seconds.

BYD sold 302,459 NEVs in March, the second highest ever behind 341,043 in December last year, according to figures it announced on April 1.

Tang family models sold 14,079 units in March, up 16.04 percent year-on-year and 162.82 percent from February.
