Nio ET7 with 150-kWh battery achieves 1,070 km in real-life range challenge

Nio tested the ET7's range with the 150-kWh battery on three routes in its latest challenge, achieving 1,070 km, 1,062 km, and 1,046 km, respectively.

The Nio (NYSE: NIO) ET7 with a 150-kWh semi-solid-state battery pack achieved a real-world range of up to 1,070 kilometers, according to data released today by the electric vehicle (EV) maker.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) conducted a 150-kWh battery pack range challenge with the 2,024 ET7 sedan on April 16, the first test of the ultra-long-range battery pack since its mass production.

Earlier this month, the first mass-produced 150-kWh battery pack rolled off the assembly line. On December 18, 2023, Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li drove a 2023 ET7 with a 150-kWh semi-solid-state battery in a range challenge, with 36 kilometers of remaining CLTC range after 1,044 kilometers of driving.

For the latest range challenge, Nio used three 2024 ET7s with 150-kWh battery packs on three different routes: from Kunming, Yunnan to Zhanjiang, Guangdong; from Beijing to Hefei, Anhui; and from Shanghai to Xiamen, Fujian.

The 2024 ET7 ran out of power after traveling 1,070 kilometers on the Kunming-Zhanjiang route. Here are the details of the test on the route:

Energy consumption: 12.7 kWh per 100 km.

Driving time: 12.8 hours.

Length of time to complete test: 15.9 hours.

Average speed: 83.7 km/h.

Maximum speed: 118 km/h.

Temperature along the route: 17.5-37 degrees Celsius.

Vehicle load: about 200 kg.

Altitude change: 1875 meters

The ET7 ran out of power after traveling 1,062 kilometers on the Beijing-Hefei route. Here are the details of the test on that route:

Energy consumption: 13.0 kWh per 100 km.

Driving time: 13.2 hours.

Length of time to complete test: 15.3 hours.

Average speed: 80.5 km/h.

Maximum speed: 110 km/h.

Temperature along the route: 15.5-30 degrees Celsius.

Vehicle load: about 200 kg.

Altitude change: -34 meters

The ET7 ran out of battery power after traveling 1,046 kilometers on the route from Shanghai to Xiamen. Here are the details of the test on the route:

Energy consumption: 13.3 kWh per 100 km.

Driving time: 13.1 hours.

Length of time to complete test: 15.2 hours.

Average speed: 79.9 km/h.

Maximum speed: 120 km/h.

Temperature along the route: 18.5-29.5 degrees Celsius.

Vehicle load: about 200 kg.

Altitude change: 3 meters

The ET7 is the only model from Nio that is yet to see an annual facelift.

The company will officially launch the 2024 ET7 on April 25, when its specifications and pricing will be announced and will allow customers to lock in their orders, it said earlier this week.

Pre-orders for the 2024 ET7 start on April 16 and deliveries will begin on April 30.
