BYD launches next-gen energy storage system MC Cube-T
BYD's MC Cube-T has a capacity of 6.432 MWh, higher than the 6.25 MWh of the Tianheng energy storage system launched by CATL 2 days ago.
The BYD MC Cube-T features a compact design with a maximum 24.7 percent reduction in footprint for a typical unit, it said.
BYD's brief article mentions nothing more.
BYD is the world's largest NEV maker and one of the largest manufacturers of batteries, which are used in passenger cars as well as energy storage systems.
On May 4, 2023, BYD launched the MC Cube, the first energy storage system to integrate its signature blade battery.
Two days before BYD launched the MC Cube-T, battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL, SHE: 300750) launched its new energy storage system Tianheng on April 9.
The Tianheng is a standard 20-foot containerized energy storage system powered by CATL's energy storage-specific L-series long-life lithium iron phosphate cells.
The energy density of the energy storage system is 430 Wh/L with a total capacity of 6.25 MWh, which CATL said at the time was the highest in the world.
