Ehang says it gets clearance to mass produce its EH216-S eVTOL in China
Ehang said it has received a Production Certificate in China for the EH216-S, marking the eVTOL's entry into mass production.
This is an important milestone for the EH216-S to step into the scale production phase and a key step for Ehang to advance its commercial operations, said Hu Huazhi, founder, chairman and CEO of the eVTOL maker.
Ehang will gradually scale up production and delivery to bring safe and reliable UAM to the global market, Hu said.
On October 13, 2023, Ehang announced that the EH216-S was officially awarded Type Certificate by the CAAC, qualifying it for commercial operation of manned UAMs.
On December 21, the EH216-S received the Airworthiness Certificate and was delivered to its first customers, according to information previously announced by the company.
On February 2, Ehang announced that the official guide price of the EH216-S in China would be RMB 2.39 million ($330,000), which became effective on April 1, 2024.
The EH216-S is powered by a power battery to provide the energy needed to fly and has a maximum takeoff weight of 650 kilograms, according to information previously announced by Ehang.
The UAM has a maximum flight speed of 130 kilometers per hour and a maximum endurance of 25 minutes.
