NEV to be Geely’s business focus
Shanghai (ZXZC)- New energy vehicle segment will be the main business focus of Geely Auto Group in the future, Li Shufu, chairman of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, said in an interview.
The chairman said that 2018 will be a “product year” for Geely. The automaker will deepen the implementation of its boutique development strategy and will introduce more competitive products.
Besides, Li Shufu also revealed that the automaker would tap into the MPV segment. Geely’s technology brand iNTEC will be adopted more in Geely’s products and will drive the automaker into new development stage.
After several years’ exploration and efforts, Geely has established three roadmaps to develop electric vehicle, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and hybrid electric vehicle. In the future, Geely will continue to promote the upgrading of the technology and speed the transformation from a traditional automaker to a new energy vehicle company.
Under the Blue Geely plan, Geely plans to enlarge its new energy vehicle proportion to 90 percent of all vehicle sales by 2020. Out of the total new energy vehicle sales, hybrid vehicles will account for 65 percent of the total sales while battery electric vehicles are expected to be 35 percent.
According to Li Shufu, Zhejiang Geely Holding Group will go on exploring the new energy vehicle roadmap and commit itself to provide diverse new energy solutions, including hybrid vehicle, battery electric vehicle, methanol-fueled vehicle, ethanol-fueled vehicle and CNG vehicle. Battery electric vehicle is the long-term target for Geely’s zero emission development.
