GWM’s staff investigated for suspected bribery of RMB 480,000
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In recent days, a bribery case involving a staff from the Great Wall Motor (GWM) has made new progress. According to the judgmental result released by China Judgements Online on March 13, two involved bribers have been judged guilty for committing the crime of bribing a non-state staff. Besides, the bribee from the GWM will be handled in another case.
In accordance with the judgment made by Lianchi Distric People's Court of Baoding, Hebei Province, during the period from 2014 to 2017, Kunshan Aifeng Plastic Material Co.,Ltd bribed the technician Fan from the GWM's interior and exterior units with a total of RMB 480,500, attempting to obtain the GWM's high concentrated black master-batches' sales businesses and enable the technician Fan to promote its products to the GWM.
The two bribers from the plastic material company, Du and Zhuo, confessed themselves guilty. Besides, Du and Zhuo will be sentenced to nine months and eight months respectively in jail, and be imposed penalties with different amounts.
The GWM, a Baoding-based private auto enterprise, is China's largest SUV and pickup manufacturer, boasting a 10-consecutive-year annual sales and profit growth. The strict management system is a notable label of the GWM or its Chairman Wei Jianjun. The heavy fines and severe supervision of internal corruption are called “the militarized management” by the industry.
Not long ago, Wei Jianjun, chairman of the GWM, and Wang Fengying, the company's president, fined themselves by RMB 3 million and 2 million from annual salaries respectively as self-punishment for the company falling short of its 2017 sales goal of 1,250,000 vehicles.
