FAW Hongqi launches all-electric sedan EH7 with starting price of $31,920
Hongqi EH7 is the first model launched by Hongqi New Energy since it became independent in January 2023.
Its competitors at this price point include BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Han EV, Rising Auto's F7, and Xiaomi's (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) upcoming SU7 sedan.
The Hongqi EH7 is available in three single-motor rear-drive versions and two dual-motor four-wheel-drive versions. The rear-drive version is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum power of 253 kW and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.8 seconds.
The dual-motor four-wheel drive versions are equipped with motors with a maximum power of 202 kW and 253 kW, respectively, and they enable the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in as fast as 3.5 seconds.
The Hongqi EH7 has three battery pack options with battery capacities of 75 kWh, 85 kWh and 111 kWh.
The range of the five versions of the CLTC is 600 kilometers, 690 kilometers, 640 kilometers, 820 kilometers and 760 kilometers.
The Hongqi EH7 has a maximum charging power of up to 365 kW, capable of charging 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes. The model can add up to 200 kilometers of range in as little as five minutes of charging.
Its smart cockpit is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Notably, this has been a standard feature of local automakers' mid- to high-end EV models for the past few years, but they are now moving to the next-generation 8295 chip.
Hongqi announced its "All In New Energy" strategy in January 2023, and began operating Hongqi New Energy independently to accelerate its electrification transition.
Hongqi New Energy's retail sales in 2023 exceeded 85,000 units, a 135 percent increase year-on-year, according to its previously announced figures.
