Huawei and BAIC's joint brand Stelato files for 1st model S9 sedan
Local media reported earlier this month that the model will be unveiled at the Beijing auto show at the end of next month and will be officially launched in June.
BAIC BluePark said last month that it was working with Huawei on a new brand called Xiangjie. The latest regulatory filing information means that Xiangjie's official English name is Stelato.
The Stelato S9 is an all-electric sedan with three pages in the catalog, including two single-motor versions and one dual-motor version.
The single-motor version is powered by an electric motor with a maximum power of 227 kW, while the dual-motor version has an additional front motor with a maximum power of 158 kW. The motor supplier for the model is Huawei.
The model's length, width and height are 5,160 mm, 1,987 mm and 1,486 mm, respectively, and its wheelbase is 3,050 mm, according to its filing pages.
Its batteries are available in Li-ion ternary and "Li-ion ternary + lithium iron manganese phosphate" options, both from CATL.
BAIC BluePark said in February that the first product under its co-brand with Huawei would be a smart sedan for the premium market.
The company plans to bring the premium sedan to overseas markets in 2024 with a distribution and service network in Asia and Europe, BAIC BluePark said last month.
On March 11, local media outlet Yicai reported that the model will be unveiled at the Beijing auto show at the end of next month and will be officially launched in June.
The car is an executive sedan with a starting price of RMB 300,000 ($41,740) to RMB 500,000, Yicai said in the report, citing a meeting minute.
The upcoming Beijing auto show, which will be held from April 25 to May 4, will mark the event's return after a four-year hiatus. The last Beijing auto show, originally planned for late April 2022, was canceled due to Covid concerns.
