The Xiaomi EV factory, which started construction in April 2022, has seen an increasing number of vehicles parked in the parking lot in the last ten days.

At the end of November 2021, Xiaomi signed an agreement with the administrative committee of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area in Yizhuang, officially announcing that the company's automotive business would be headquartered there.

Xiaomi would build its automotive business headquarters base and sales and R&D headquarters there, and would construct a 300,000-vehicle-per-year automotive factory in two phases, according to an announcement made at the time by the official WeChat account of the development area.

The plant would be built in two phases, with annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles in the first and second phases, respectively, the announcement said.

Xiaomi said yesterday that the SU7 will be available to allow customers to experience it from March 25, with reservations now open. The model's show car has 59 first available stores across 29 cities.

Earlier today, Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun said on Weibo that the number of people booking appointments to experience the SU7 in stores has increased by more than 100,000 in a single day.

Xiaomi will boost factory capacity as soon as possible to ensure early delivery after launch, Lei said.
