Shanghai (ZXZC)- US electric car maker Tesla said on October 30 the 2,000th supercharger in mainland China was installed at a commercial area in Shanghai, namely Shangjia Center. Besides, the automaker is installing superchargers in urban areas where city dwellers and out of town visitors can easily charge. These stations will be placed at convenient locations like grocery stores, downtown districts, and shopping centers so that charging fits seamlessly into people’s life. In addition, it is offering charging facilities along highways.

Meanwhile, Tesla has unveiled V3 supercharger and it is expected to enter into the Chinese market at the end of this year. A new 1MW power cabinet supports peak rates of up to 250kW per car. At this rate, a Model 3 long range operating at peak efficiency can recover up to 75 miles (120km) of charge in 5 minutes and charge at rates of up to 1,000 miles (1600km) per hour. The company said V3 supercharging would ultimately cut the amount of time users spend charging by an average of 50% (photo source: Tesla).
