FAW-VW Audi plans to launch 7 new NEV models before 2020

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Jing Qingchun, executive vice-president of the FAW-VW Audi Sales Division said on Jan. 31 that they will release seven new NEV models by 2020, which will be sold throughout Audi's existing dealership network. Audi's first local-produced high-end electric SUV, the C-BEV is among the seven NEV models.

Based on the e-tron quattro concept model launched at the 2015 Frankfurt Auto Show, the C-BEV features a size between that of the Q5 and the Q7. The model will be the prototype of Audi's first pure electric SUV.

The Audi C-BEV is expected to be powered by three electric motors with a deployment of two motors in the front and one at the rear part, delivering a maximum power output of 320kW and a peak torque of 800Nm. Co-developed by Sumsung SDI Co., Ltd. and LG Chem, the model's battery pack is expected to achieve a range of over 500km. With Audi's wireless charging equipment, the model can be fully charged in 50 minutes.

Apart from the first pure electric SUV, the C-BEV, Audi will also release other NEV models, including the Q2, Q4 and Q5. Launched in July, 2017, the all-new Audi A8 and A8L were much highlighted by L3-featured autonomous driving function, massage function and laser headlights. According to the planning, Audi will also release an all-new A8 plug-in hybrid version model.

FAW-VW plans to manufacture 5 EV models based on the MQB platform, and the relevant model variants will be launched consecutively. Among them, the Audi X55 BEV (pure EV version model of the Q2L) will be manufactured at FAW-VW's Foshan factory. The new model is likely to retain the design cues of the all-new Q2L with an expected range of 500km. At the meantime, the Q4 built based on the TT offroad concept will also hit the market soon.
