China EV battery installations in Dec: CATL share at 44.48%, BYD at 22.95%

CATL and BYD both saw their share of the Chinese power battery market increase slightly in December.

CATL's power battery installed capacity in December was 21.32 GWh, ranking first with a 44.48 percent share, up 0.57 percentage points from 43.91 percent in November.

BYD's power battery installed capacity was 11 GWh in December, ranking second with a 22.95 percent share, up 0.22 percentage points from 22.73 percent in November.

BYD's share of China's power battery market was around 34 percent in both January and February. Since March, BYD's share has been below 30 percent, except in May.

CALB installed 3.06 GWh of power batteries in December, ranking third with a 6.39 percent share, down 0.82 percentage points from 7.21 percent in November.

Eve Energy installed 2.17 GWh in December, outpacing Gotion High-tech to rank fourth with a 4.54 percent share.

Gotion High-tech ranked fifth in December with 2.02 GWh installed and a 4.22 percent share. In November, Gotion was fourth, while Eve Energy was fifth.

China's lithium ternary battery installed capacity in December was 16.6 GWh, accounting for 34.5 percent of the total, up 44.9 percent year-on-year and up 5.3 percent from November.

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installed volume was 31.3 GWh, accounting for 65.3 percent of the total installed volume, up 26.8 percent year-on-year and up 7.5 percent from November.

In the LFP battery market, CATL's installed base of 10.97 GWh in December continued to outpace BYD, topping the list with a 35.07 percent share, but down from 36.52 percent in November.

BYD's installed base of 10.96 GWh in the LFP market was second with a 35.04 percent share, up from 34.99 percent in October.
