Shanghai (ZXZC)- On Jan. 9, BAIC BJEV announced that its annual sales surged 98% year on year to 103,199 units, making BAIC BJEV the first pure electric vehicle manufacturer with an annual output and sales exceeding 100,000 units. With this remarkable result, BAIC BJEV not only takes the sales crown in Chinese pure electric vehicle market for five consecutive years, but also is expected to rank second by NEV sales in the world in 2017.

Although government subsidies were gradually phasing out in 2017, BAIC BJEV's independence on governmental subsidies was largely weakended by its EC series. BAIC BJEV not only sold well in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, but also posted sales of over 37,000 units in cities with no purchase restriction and only governmental subsidy, accounting for 36% of its total sales.

According to Li Yixiu, vice general manager of BAIC BJEV and general manager of the sales company, it is the first time for BAIC BJEV to achieve an annual delivery of more than 100,000 NEVs. What's more, BAIC BJEV becomes the first carmakers to have an annual sales of more than 100,000 units in the pure electric vehicle market.

Apart from the breakthroughs in NEV sales in 2017, BAIC BJEV also made several achievements in other areas during the past year. BAIC BJEV launched the well-known Optimlis Prime Plan, aiming to eliminate customers' anxiety on NEV charging. Besides, it is the first NEV company to widely promote battery swapping mode. In 2017, BAIC BJEV had built 106 battery swapping stations, and put 5,000 NEVs with swappable batteries into operation, leading the industry in terms of the scale. Moreover, BAIC BJEV also has built most charging piles in 2017. Among them, there were 42,000 private charging piles and 14,000 public charging piles.

BAIC BJEV also strived to make progersses in production and marketing mode. Li Yixiu said that BAIC BJEV become the fourth largest ride-hailing service provider with 8,000 vehicles operating in 12 Chinese cities. In the future, BAIC BJEV targets to be a giant in vehicle-sharing area.

Along with the remarkable sales result, BAIC BJEV also managed to shape its own sales channel. It built 235 dealers in 2017 and the total volume reached 300. Moreover, 144 service stations were built and the total volume reached 249.
