GAC Aion, the new energy vehicle (NEV) subsidiary of GAC Group, has seen its one millionth vehicle roll off the production line, marking a milestone in its history.
The one-millionth vehicle, a Hyper HT model of GAC Aion's sub-brand Hyper, officially rolled off the production line on December 28, GAC Aion said today.
This is four years and eight months after GAC Aion's first model rolled off the production line in April 2019, making it the fastest car brand in the world to reach that milestone, it said.
GAC Aion, originally GAC's NEV division, officially began standalone operations on November 20, 2020, with its first plant coming on line in April 2019 prior to that date.
Currently, GAC Aion owns two brands, Aion and Hyper, and the premium luxury brand Hyper is helping GAC Aion's profitability levels continue to rise, it said.
GAC Aion's current models on sale target the mass market, such as the Aion S sedan with a price range of RMB 139,800 ($19,677) to RMB 146,800.
In order to enter a more premium market, GAC Aion announced on September 15, 2022 a new brand, Hyper.
On July 3, Hyper officially launched the Hyper GT and it's also the 20 millionth NEV produced in China.
On October 9, Hyper launched the Hyper SSR with three versions, starting at RMB 1,286,000, RMB 1,386,000 and RMB 1,686,000 respectively.
On November 16, Hyper officially launched the Hyper HT, making falcon-wing doors similar to the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model X available on a relatively affordable model.
GAC Aion sold 41,567 vehicles in November, up 45 percent year-on-year, according to figures it announced on December 1.
From January through November, GAC Aion sold 434,056 vehicles, up 80 percent from the previous year.
