China's passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales stood at 187,000 units from December 1 to December 10, up 8 percent from the same period last year and up 3 percent from the same period last month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

So far this year, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China amounted to 6.996 million units, up 34 percent from the same period last year.

From December 1 to December 10, China's wholesale sales of passenger NEVs were 194,000 units, 10 percent lower than the same period last year and 2 percent lower than the same period in November, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, China's wholesale sales of passenger NEVs stood at 7.967 million units, up 34 percent year-on-year.

In the December 1-10 period, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 475,000 units, up 7 percent compared with the same period last year and up 8 percent from the same period last month, the CPCA said.

So far this year, China's retail sales of passenger cars were up 5 percent year-on-year to 19.819 million units.

That means NEV penetration at retail in China was 39.4 percent in the December 1-10 period, and 35.3 percent so far this year.

Average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 47,475 units from December 1-10, according to the CPCA.

From December 1-10, China's passenger car wholesale sales were 457,000 units, up 9 percent compared to the same period last year while down 4 percent from the same period last month. Cumulative year-to-date wholesale sales stood at 23.272 million units, up 9 percent year-on-year.

China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars from December 1 to December 10 were 45,690 units, according to the CPCA.
