China's NEV retail sales up 2% MoM to 783,000 in Nov, preliminary CPCA data show

China's passenger NEV penetration at retail stood at 38 percent in November, up from 37.8 percent in October.

China's passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) sold 783,000 units at retail in November, up 30 percent year-on-year and up 2 percent from October, preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.

That would be a record high, but lower than the 820,000 units or so that the CPCA had forecast in its November 24 report.

Between January and November, China's passenger NEV retail sales were 6.736 million units, up 34 percent from a year earlier, according to the CPCA.

Wholesale sales of Chinese passenger NEVs in November were 945,000 units, up 29 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from October.

In the January-November period, wholesale sales of Chinese passenger NEVs were 7.744 million units, up 35 percent year-on-year.

Retail sales of all passenger cars in China in November were 2.062 million units, up 25 percent year-on-year and up 1 percent from October.

This means that the penetration rate of passenger NEVs at retail was 38 percent in November, up from 37.8 percent in October.

Retail sales of all passenger cars in China from January to November amounted to 19.328 million units, up 5 percent year-on-year.

Wholesale sales of passenger cars in China in November were 2.572 million units, up 27 percent year-on-year and up 5 percent from October.

From January to November, China's passenger car wholesale sales amounted to 22,843,000 units, up 9 percent year-on-year.

The following is the weekly retail performance of the Chinese passenger car market in November, as announced by the CPCA today:

During the first week of November -- November 1 to November 5 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 37,875 units, up 6 percent from the same period last year but down 27 percent from the same period last month.

In the second week of November -- from November 6 to November 12, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 49,845 units, up 26 percent from a year earlier while down 7 percent from a month earlier.

In the third week of November -- from November 13 to November 19, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 62,251 units, up 21 percent from a year earlier and up 9 percent from a month earlier.

In the fourth week of November -- from November 20 to November 26 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 59,276 units, up 11 percent from a year earlier while down 24 percent from a month earlier.

In the fifth week of November -- from November 27 to November 30 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 168,133 units, up 46 percent from the same period last year and up 84 percent from the same period last month.
